Cup-a-Soup dispenser for Unilever

The Design Challenge

The problem Unilever approached WeLLDesign with was: “ODesign a handheld Cup-a-Soup dispenser for the introduction of Cup-a-Soup in company canteens and pantries.”

The Solution

Through a strategic design process, resulting in a mood board, the mechanical and industrial design of the dispenser was determined. ‘Energy’, ‘rest break’, and ‘food appeal’ are the brand values that have been translated into the newly developed Cup-a-Soup dispenser.

Manual operation

The unique, patented design works by means of manual control. In this way, making a cup of soup gets a craft accent: it becomes an experience in itself. The design fits perfectly with the brand values.

Development

The strategic design resulted in a moodboard. Subsequently the Mechanical Design and the Industrial Design were developed in parallel. This combination led to the unique design and the mechanism to be patented, represented in a Proof-of-Concept and a mock-up. In the phase of product development a functionmodel, a product prototype and a production prototype were developed in stages.

WeLLDesign took on the challenge with an original approach: the design of the Cup-a-Soup The dispenser is also the brand ambassador.
