Sensemedic, slim through IoT
Patients are using the smart Sensemedic medication dispenser. This dispenser therefore sends information about dosing times to a central server. This information is then used by healthcare professionals and researchers to gain better insight into patients' medication use. Patients will also be supported with information via an SMS alert service when they risk forgetting their medication. This subsequently promotes adherence to treatment.

Evalan supports customers in the development, implementation and application of telemonitoring, M2M and Internet of Things systems.
Evalan is developing an IoT solution with a smart medication dispenser. The dispenser remotely monitors intake behaviour. With the real-time information collected, it is possible to actually increase medication adherence.
The result is a solution that benefits both patients and healthcare professionals alike. Each patient's adherence can be accurately determined, allowing healthcare professionals to guide and support the patient more effectively. Working from existing behaviour, a better intake pattern is developed.
Challenge
The challenge was to develop a crystal clear and faultless product for the patient. Therefore the mechanism of unscrewing the cap demands a conscious action. An action that consequently insures actual drug use only if and when the vial is opened. In addition this offers an added child-proof safety feature.
The original drug vial of the drug company fits into the medication container, together with the instruction leaflet. The larger size of the vial makes unscrewing the cap much easier for the patient.
