WeLLDesign developed for Mijnwater B.V. the Mine Shaft. A stackable element through which the water heated by Mijnwater is pumped. Because it is a stackable element, the Mine Shaft can be used on apartment blocks of various heights. The element can be industrially manufactured. As a result, the installation on site can proceed quickly, resulting in minimal disruption to the residents.

In the shaft – per apartment – stacked vertically are: a water heater for domestic hot water, a heat pump to be able to produce enough heat for the domestic hot water, and a ventilation system with heat recovery. These elements ensure that freshly drawn-in air can be heated and cooled. Various underground strata containing the mine water are utilised for this purpose.
